About us

Eco Ship

Ecoship was founded in 2003 as an independent firm by former Feadship partner Hugo van Wieringen and Diederik van der Hoek. Over the following 15 years the company has grown to a team of thirty passionate experts working in three main divisions: design, naval architecture and engineering. Onne Logger and Erik Spek were involved in the management of the company from the early days. They are currently the main shareholders of the company and oversee all operations and activities. Between them, they have been involved in the construction of over 50 new build yacht projects.

We offer a wide range of services for new build and refit projects and we have established long term relationships with other key players in the yacht building industry. Throughout the whole yacht spectrum, from design to launch, all aspects involved with the building process are overseen and coordinated by ECOSHIP. During an iterative process our creative team blends together the client’s wishes regarding exterior style, layout and regulations into a fitting concept design. The design is developed following requirements from selected Classification societies and Flag.

To guarantee a feasible concept our designers and naval architects work closely together from the start of the project. Collaborating with an interior designer, the initial concept is step-by-step refined into a fully detailed design. In preparation of construction EcoShip works together with the shipyard to find the most fitting detail solutions.

EXPLORE Yacht Design

One of EcoShip’s strengths is the early involvement of naval architecture in the design process. Our naval architects assist in defining the specifications and behavior of the yacht. Parameters regarding speed, fuel-efficiency, seakeeping and material are fused into a suitable overall ship design.

The team is able to support in refining the hull shape design and creating detailed weight-, stability- and performance predictions for new build and refit projects. Before delivery to the owner EcoShip oversees stability tests and sea trials.

EXPLORE Naval Architecture

EcoShip defines the overall ship construction. Our specialists oversee the integration of all structural elements such as construction, propulsion and climate systems, and are able to comply with regulations of all major Classification societies.

For new build projects the detailed engineering of individual elements is performed by subcontractors or the shipyard.

EXPLORE Marine Engineering

During construction of the yacht EcoShip supervises the technical developments, acts as key decision maker and assesses build quality on behalf of the owner. After delivery to the owner, our surveyors evaluate the state of the yacht for quality or safety. Additionally we perform regular compliancy checks as requested by Class and Flag.

Who we are

The Team

The thirty members of ECOHSIP’s team have various nationalities and backgrounds. Whether it’s design, naval architecture or engineering, their common passion for yachts brings them together. They are the heart and soul of the company, dealing with the day-to-day involvement of the projects. Additionally, ECOHSIP is represented in the Americas by Miami local Andrea Armas.
